Whether you're a newbie to your fitness journey or have already started to achieve the results you envisioned for yourself – you'll always be on the lookout for valuable fitness advice that keeps you on track and inspires you to keep pushing yourself. See, you don't want to be that guy…. who started his fitness journey as a New Year's Resolution….. and then just gave up halfway. Well, we're here to help you out!
In this article, we break down 5 Fitness Tips For Success:
Yes, you want those six-pack abs staring back at you from the mirror. That might be the reason you got a gym subscription, to begin with. But that should not be the driving force for your workouts. If your goal is only to improve the aesthetics of your body instead of making actual gains and progressing in terms of your strength, you won’t be able to get too far ahead. Focus only on improving your speed, consistency, power, and performance. Try to keep your expectations low from the aesthetic results. All your determination should center around becoming more athletic. The abs will naturally follow!
You’ve heard this advice way too many times before, but it still can’t be overstated. Resistance Training is what will help you make impressive gains, not cardio. Now, that doesn’t mean you have to avoid cardio altogether. But you must do resistance training at least 3 times a week, even if that means skipping cardio for a day. Along with all that, make sure to keep your protein intake consistent. And when it comes to cardio – go the HIIT way!
If you like it flat, you don’t have to force yourself to do the incline bench. You don’t have to do lunges if you prefer squats. “Pushing yourself” doesn’t mean forcing yourself to do exercises you loathe. Instead, go for exercises that you find comfortable yet challenging. When you start doing workouts you thoroughly enjoy, you’re more likely to commit to them. Your motivation levels will naturally arise, and you’ll be much more enthusiastic to complete the workout. It’s a win-win!
The pitfall of every to-be gym success story: comparing yourself to others! You might feel intimidated and even demotivated when you see all those buff guys working out around you. It’s natural, it’s normal, and they probably went through the same experience. Had they given up halfway, they wouldn’t have been a source of inspiration for you. Don’t fall into the trap of comparisons – it can greatly distract your transformation. When you spend too much time focusing on what others are doing, you end up cheating your own self. It doesn’t benefit anyone!
If you start your fitness journey with a deadline, you’ll end up unsuccessful. Brace yourself for all the plateaus, peaks, and valleys. You might not see results for a long time, and it will frustrate you like nothing else. It is in those moments that your motivation is actually put to test. Don’t fail yourself! We’re rooting for you. And we can know you pull it off!
